I was with Edward in my happy place.
I’m one hundred percent sure about Edward.
“I wanted to elbow Edward in the ribs, but I knew that move would only give me a bruise. I’d told Edward that people would immediately jump to this conclusion! What other possible reason would sane people have for getting married at eighteen? (His answer then had made me roll my eyes. Love. Right.)”
Edward grimaced, and I knew it was in objection to the word okay. He probably would have used something more like wonderful or perfect or glorious. Bella Swan, Breaking Dawn, Chapter 1, p.14
“You could run from someone you feared, you could try to fight someone you hated. All my reactions were geared toward those kinds of killers – the monsters, the enemies. When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give your beloved, how could you not give...
“We’re doing this your way. Because my way doesn’t work. I call you stubborn, but look at what I’ve done. I’ve clung with such idiotic obstinacy to my idea of what’s best for you, though it’s only hurt you. Hurt you so deeply, time and time again. I don’t trust myself anymore. You can have happiness your way. My way is always wrong.” Edward Cullen, Eclipse, Chapter 27, p.617
“Edward, I know who I can’t live without.” Bella Swan, Eclipse, Chapter 27, p.610
“You may be brave enough or strong enough to live without me, if that’s what’s best. But I could never be that self-sacrificing. I have to be with you. It’s the only way I can live.” Bella Swan, Eclipse, Chapter 27, p.610
“If it hurts you so much, how can it possibly be the right thing for you?” Edward Cullen, Eclipse, Chapter 27, p.610
“Hasn’t anyone ever told you? Life isn’t fair.”
“I had no right to want you — but I reached out and took you anyway. And now look what’s become of you! Trying to seduce a vampire.”
“But if you ever bring her back damaged again — and I don’t care whose fault it is; I don’t care if she merely trips, or if a meteor falls out of the sky and hits her in the head — if you return her to me in less than the perfect condition that I left her in, you will be running with three legs. Do you understand that, mongrel?”
“I got a fascinating look into the pack’s mind last night. It was better than a soap opera. I had no idea how complex the dynamic is with such a large pack. The pull of the individual against the plural psyche… Absolutely fascinating.”
